Terms of Service

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] (“Credits for Educators,” “we,” “us”). Credits for Educators designs and delivers professional development courses for educators. The graduate-level semester credit associated with our courses is granted and recorded by University of the Pacific, Benerd College, a regionally accredited institution and our academic partner.

Credits for Educators is not a degree-granting institution and does not issue academic credit itself. The university is responsible for registering your credit, maintaining your academic record, and issuing transcripts, under its own academic policies.

3. Credit acceptance is decided by your district or state

This is the most important thing to understand before you enroll:

Whether the credit you earn counts toward salary advancement (a column or lane change), license renewal, recertification, or any other purpose is determined solely by your school district, state, or licensing authority — not by Credits for Educators or University of the Pacific, Benerd College.

We do not guarantee that any district, state, or other body will accept the credit for any particular purpose. Requirements vary widely and can change. You are responsible for confirming, before you enroll, that the credit will be accepted for your intended purpose. If you’re unsure, your district’s HR office or salary-schedule administrator is usually the right place to ask. Because tuition becomes non-refundable once it is processed (see our Refund Policy), confirming acceptance first protects you.

4. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and take responsibility for activity under your account. 5. Enrollment, tuition, and payment

When you enroll, you agree to pay the tuition and any fees shown at checkout. Payments are handled by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. Your tuition is submitted to University of the Pacific, Benerd College so your credit can be registered.

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. In short, tuition is non-refundable once it has been processed at the university, so please review that policy and confirm credit acceptance before enrolling.

6. Academic credit, coursework, and transcripts

To earn credit, you must complete the course requirements as described in the course and as required by University of the Pacific, Benerd College. Academic matters — including credit registration, completion status, transcripts, and related academic policies — are administered by the university. Official transcripts are requested through the university’s process, which we can help point you to.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• share your account or course access with others;
• copy, redistribute, resell, or publicly post our course materials;
• submit work that is not your own where original work is required;
• interfere with or attempt to disrupt the Service or its security; or
• use the Service in any way that violates applicable law.

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms.

8. Intellectual property

Our courses, website, text, graphics, and other materials are owned by Credits for Educators or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. When you enroll, we grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial license to access and use the course materials for your own professional learning. All other rights are reserved.

Work you submit within a course remains yours, but you grant us permission to use it as needed to operate the Service and to share it with the university for the purpose of awarding credit.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

In particular, and without limiting the above, we make no guarantee that any credit will be accepted by any district, state, or licensing body for salary advancement, renewal, or any other purpose.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Credits for Educators and its officers, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from a district’s, state’s, or licensing body’s decision not to accept credit. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the course that gave rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Credits for Educators and its partners from claims and expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

12. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. When we change the Terms, we’ll update the “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.

Privacy Policy

• Basic usage and device data — for example, pages visited, course progress, browser type, and approximate location from your IP address — collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Because your university registration includes sensitive information such as your Social Security number, we limit who can access it and protect it as described in “Security” below.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• enroll you in courses and track your progress;
• submit your completion to University of the Pacific, Benerd College so your credit can be registered and a transcript issued;
• process tuition and other payments;
• provide support and respond to your questions;
• send you account, enrollment, and service messages — and, where permitted, occasional updates you can opt out of;
• keep the Service secure and improve our courses and website; and
• meet our legal and recordkeeping obligations.

How your information is shared

We share personal information only as described here:

• University of the Pacific, Benerd College. To issue the credit you enroll for, we share the information the university needs to register your credit and create your official transcript — including your name, Social Security number, the course, and your completion. The university maintains these academic records under its own policies, and education records held by the university may be subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
• Service providers. Companies that help us operate — for example payment processing (Stripe), hosting, email delivery, and analytics — and that may use your information only to perform services for us.
• Legal and safety reasons. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or is necessary to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers. If Credits for Educators is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
